Gujarat Board News :- After CBSE, GSHSEB to revise curriculum, classes 9-12 syllabus may be reduced

Gujarat Board or GSHSEB is working on the lines of CBSE Board in reducing the syllabus for classes 9 to 12 - The CBSE syllabus has been reduced by 30% including the most essential topics for students

Human Resource Minister, Dr Ramesh Pokhariyal had announced CBSE Board syllabus reduction recently. The syllabus for classes 9th to 12th has been reduced by 30 per cent. Gujarat government working on the same lines has directed the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, GSHSEB to reduce the syllabus for the students including only the most essential topics.

Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama informed, “Instructions have been passed on to the Board to begin work on syllabus reduction. Suggestions from the subject experts would be sought after which the decision would be taken on what is to be left and what is to be retained.”

The Board is being specific in retaining only what is essential for students in the next class. The chairman of the Board said, “A decision in consultation with the state government over the revised course will be soon taken. While unburdening students from the curriculum that can be afforded to be dropped, rationalisation of the syllabus has to be done keeping in mind that these are the same students who are going to sit for national entrance examinations in the coming months. So, our effort will be to ensure that students do not miss out on anything which is important.”

The advice from the educationists would be sought through a webinar and the syllabus topics would be discussed. The changes are most likely to be informed to the students and the teaching staff within a week. One webinar for the syllabus has already been conducted on July 6, 2020. The students can expect a reduced syllabus like that of CBSE soon for the Gujarat Board too.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has rationalized the syllabus by up to 30 per cent for classes 9 to 12 for the academic year 2020-21 to reduce course load of students amid the COVID-19 crises, Union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' announced on Tuesday.
